4 Things meme

I know that I have a lot of getting caught up with you folks. I promise to let you know what's been going on at some point this weekend. Dare I say it, I'll even have pictures. In the meantime, I saw this meme going around on a couple of blogs, so I decided to steal it. I never said originality was my forte. Here goes...

4 Things I did 10 years ago (1998):
1) Finally got an apartment of my own - no roommates!
2) Worked at a pretty prestigious phsychologist's office
3) Changed my major from journalism to public relations
4) Had my first devestating break-up with who was to later become my fiancee and to later become my worst break-up ever

4 Things I did 5 years ago (2003):
1) Became secure in myself after taking the last year recovering from the worst break-up ever (see above)
2) Started on my MBA in Global Managment - I finished a year...I really need to go back :(
3) Lived temporarily with Doc and our other roommate Crazy - by far the craziest person I've known in my life...I'm not talking crazy fun. I'm talking crazy certifiable.
4) Partied...A LOT

4 Things I did Yesterday (6/12):
1) Worked both jobs...boo!
2) Grocery shopped in between both jobs
3) Paid bills
4) Made jello shot syringes for a party tonight - dangerous. You'd think I was still in college or something, but there's ALWAYS room for jello...hehe

4 TV Shows I Like to Watch:
1) How It's Made
2) Lost
3) House
4) Law and Order - any of them!

4 Things I Love to Do:
1) Travel
2) Eat
3) Drink great wines, scotches, and whiskeys
4) Boyfriend...ha! I know, I know...he's not a "Thing", but I couldn't pass it up :)

I'm the generation that comes AFTER the crazy old ladies shaking their goods at a Rod Stewart concert

Today I saw this...

Their dance moves, I swear, are the same from 20 years ago, but I give them props for rubbing some Bengay on the old joints so they can move around a bit. I will give you this, they all look good for their ages. I know a lot of 40-somethings or near-40's that wouldn't look nearly that good shirtless like Donnie Wahlberg (age 40). Hell, I know a few 20-somethings that need to keep their stuff hidden! Although I wasn't comletely ga-ga over the video, I came to a realization. When I watch concert footage of women who are about 15 years older than me going crazy at a Rod Stewart concert or a Barry Manilow performance, I think "Wow, that's crazy!" Actually, I'm much more judgemental than to just say that, but let's just go with that. If I were to go to a NKOTB concert this year, I would be that same screaming, crazy fan....just because. Not necessarily because they're good NOW, but because I was so in love with them when I was a wee tween. Why not get crazy at their concert, right? I'm sure teens of today would think the same thing of me as I did those ladies older than me. "I hope that I'm not that pathetic when I'm her age." Jeez! I guess the saying really is true - what comes around goes around!

Nowhereville, NJ (somewhere between Podunk and BFE)

I've got a bit of catching up to do today on informing you guys what's been going on in my life. First off, Boyfriend and I went to Wedding #612 for the year last weekend. This one was for one of Boyfriend's childhood friends who is now currently residing in Bayville, NJ. Basically, there was no easy way for us to get to Bayville from any of the surrounding airports. It is about 1.5 hours from Newark, 1 hour from Philadelphia, and 1 hour away from Atlantic City. My airline that I fly standby on only flies direct to Newark and Philadelphia though.

What made things even more complicated was that Boyfriend was out of town for a job interview (don't want to discuss this just yet...so don't ask!) and was landing in Houston at 6:50pm. The latest flight to Philly was scheduled to leave at 6:30pm, so that was a no-go. We ended up taking the latest flight to Newark. The flight left at almost 9pm and had us arriving in Newark at 1:30am. Ugh! We thought about not leaving until early Saturday, but the wedding was pretty early at 12:30pm . There was no way we could get in at 11:30am and make the drive without missing the ceremony. So there we were at Newark airport tiredly making our way to the onsite airport hotel to catch a few measly hours of sleep. After finally getting settled and falling asleep around 3am, I got up at 7:30am to start getting ready so that we were out the door to pick up the rental car and on the road by 9am. We wanted to give ourselves just enough time to take a few wrong turns...even with the GPS.

Everything was a rush. We arrived at the hotel Boyfriend's friends were staying only to get back into the car to head to the wedding in Beachwood, NJ (10 minutes away from the hotels in Toms River, NJ). After the very small ceremony, we headed to a covered area at a park in Bayville for the reception. Honestly, we would never have found these places if we weren't following people. GPS couldn't even map them...Jeez!

This was by far the most laid back wedding we had been to so far. Every one was very nice, and I enjoyed getting to meet some of Boyfriend's close friends from when he was a wee sprout. After the reception, we headed to the home of the Bride and Groom for Boyfriend to catch up with close friends. We left around 9pm and arrived back to our Newark Airport hotel at around 11pm. What a LONG day! Unfortunately, it didn't stop there.

Seeing as we did standby on the way to Newark and planned on doing the same on our return to Houston, the only flight that ensured us getting a seat was at 5:30am. YES, 5:30 A.M.!!! We got up at 3:30am (2:30am local Houston time) to return the rental and head to the airport for the flight. We landed in Houston at 7:50am. You guessed it... I pretty much slept the day away when we got home.

When I finally got up around 2:30pm, I realized what a pretty and sunny day I was missing. (For Weenie, it's already hotter than Hades around here!!!) I decided that I felt like being outside, being around water, and enjoying the rest of the day. Mainly, I wanted to shake off the cold, rainy New Jersey weather!!! I called Single Girl to suggest a nice little place to grab a bite to eat in her neck of the woods of Seabrook. That's how we ended up at Sundance Grill. The place was awesome! The food was ok, but it was great sitting on the patio and watching all the different boats go by. It was probably the highlight of my weekend...no offense to Boyfriend and going to his friend's wedding. I really just enjoyed spending time with Boyfriend and relaxing. Maybe next time, when we're not so out of it, we'd be able to meet up with Single Girl seeing as we were in her "hood" after all.

Other than our crazy whirlwind weekend, work is still crazy! Coworker is back but only easing into her workload by working part-time. I still feel like she needs to take it easy and should be home. But, I also understand that she is probably going stir crazy after two weeks of sitting at home and not being allowed to do anything on your own. I would probably want a few hours of work to feel like I was doing something. She has officially lost her sense of taste to go along with her sense of smell. So now she must face the fact that she may never get those senses back again. I can't imagine how frustrating and devestating that must be. I LOVE to eat and can't imagine what it would be like to not taste robust flavors...ever! At least she is alive and that is pretty minor to whatever else could have happened with her head trauma.
